Not Your Average Candy Apples

Fall is here, and what better way to welcome it than by making candy apples? Today, I have three variations of the traditional candy apple recipe for you, and I’m quite sure you ladies are going to absolutely love these – and your kids will love them as well!

Each of these recipes calls for Granny Smith Apples (the green sour ones, but you can use whatever kind of apples you have on hand or whatever kind you like) Rather than use the entire apple for this recipe, we are going to peel the apples, and use a small melon baller and use balls of apples to make candy apple pops. Similar to cake pops, but in an apple version! Brilliant, right? The best part is, you don’t need any specific amount of any of these ingredients, just make sure you have plenty of apple balls and pour out as much of each ingredient as you think you’ll need per batch. Before you begin coating your apple balls, you will want to stick lollipop sticks in each apple ball.

First up, we have S’mores Candy Apple Balls

S’mores Candy Apple Balls

  • Graham Cracker Crumbs
  • Melted chocolate – my favorite is Hershey’s
  • Marshmallow ‘Fluff’
  • Apple Balls
  • Lollipop sticks

Dip the apple balls in melted chocolate, then dip half of the apple ball into the fluff. You can also dip them in the melted fluff first  then drizzle chocolate over top, if you’d prefer. From there, roll the ball halfway in graham cracker crumbs or coat it completely. Put the apples into the fridge to harden a bit. Serve and enjoy!
